HILARY HANN
Hilary Hann, is a Master of Photography of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography and a multi-award winner with her evocative and hauntingly beautiful fine art photography. A childhood spent in East Africa fuelled a passion for wild Africa from which has evolved her distinctive style. Her work appears in a number of published art books and is held in collections both in Australia and Internationally.

“In this crowded world we live in, the concept of space and loneliness can seem an ephemeral ideal. During many trips to East Africa I found that despite the heavy weight of humanity pressing in on the wild places of the landscape, the images which continued to inspire me were the unexpected ones. The lone tree battling to grow taller than the giraffe; the unexpected mists and violent storms set against towering escarpments; the Maasai living in harmony in an inharmonious world. All these things became the catalyst to share a vision of a fast disappearing world.

My art is an extension of the spiritual response I have towards African wildlife, its struggle to maintain relevance in a diminishing wilderness and its importance to the lives and history of people the world over. The landscapes they inhabit echo their spirit and it is both an honour and my passionate desire to help preserve them through my art. Joining Artists Against Extinction is one way I can use whatever talents I have to make a difference.”
