PAUL JOYNSON-HICKS

Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE is a wildlife photographer living and working out of Arusha, Tanzania. He has been in Africa for over twenty years and has had several books published of his work.

As a wildlife photographer, I love just watching the animals going about their daily struggle for survival without all the rubbish that we as human beings bring along to our lives.  Elephants are one of my favourite creatures - I can spend hours watching them! Personally I feel that but I have always struggled to take a really great image of one. Something about their size, their personalities and their presence - I have never really felt able to fully capture that.  I hope, as the years go by, that we, together, might be able to stem the tragic tide of decimation of these great beasts and my children will be able to see them in the wild and hopefully they will be able to capture that truly "great" photograph.
